GED

The GED program for high school students operates under regulations established for Virginia schools through the Individual Student Alternative Education Program (ISAEP).  This program prepares students to pass the GED examination, as well as working to provide students with skills and abilities that will enable them to obtain employment and to be successful in life.  To qualify to enroll in an ISAEP program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • at least 16 years old
  • at risk of dropping out of school
  • at least one year behind their peers in school
  • have not earned a significant number of credits in school
  • achieve a minimum entrance score on a test of reading ability
  • achieve a minimum entrance score on the Office Practice GED Test

Students who enroll in the Project Uplift GED program receive personalized GED instruction using a computer-based instructional program.  They also receive daily group counseling, as well as individual counseling as needed, and instruction in pre-employment skills.
